JORGE DREXLER RELEASES HIS NEW SONG ‘TOCARTE’ FEAT. C. TANGANA
Friday, October 29th, Jorge Drexler and C. Tangana release their new collaboration, “Tocarte”. Following the superb Nominao –featured in C. Tangana’s latest album
«Being brave or a coward, / Your money or your life,
/ to put my life on the line, / to go down the drain»
A contemporary and coloquial lyrical exercise where each word hits hard with accuracy and in a clearly defined direction: Tocarte (Touching you). A minimalist and rhyhmic approach tinged with candombe and carioca funk.
«Tocarte» is the first song that Pucho (C. Tangana) and I wrote. It just came out in a session in my studio in June 2020, together with Víctor Martínez and my son, Pablo Drexler. Pucho and I wrote the lyrics, but the one steering the helm of this ship of four was him, adding his characteristic bold brightness, frenzy and unselfishness he has when he is working. This happened over a year ago… before «Nominao», so imagine how hard it was for us to keep the secret (it was burning in my hands!) until we felt, the whole team, that the right time has come. Jorge Drexler about “Tocarte”.
We wrote the song during the pandemic, at a time when usual interactions like giving a hug or kissing had suddenly turned into risky actions. It is an honor for me to collaborate with Jorge after his amazing contribution to my album. And I also love the fact that Víctor Martínez, who had a strong presence in “El Madrileño”, took part in the song too. C. Tangana about “Tocarte”.
It is demonstrated once again that when two great artists like Drexler and C. Tangana get together, one plus one is greater than two. They are joined by Víctor Martínez –who usually works with C. Tangana– in the composition and production and Pablo Drexler, Jorge’s eldest son, in his surprising first official collaboration– in a song both original and compelling. The final touches to the song –production and mixing– are by Carles «Campi» Campón, Drexler’s longtime collaborator and producer.

Discovering such a talented and dedicated director like Joana Colomar, who was able to reveal that sensuality, also led us to feel that the circle was complete and that it was the right time to present the song. Jorge Drexler about Colomar.
The song cover is by the young photographer Sofía Colodrón. It is a beautiful representation, taken from the shooting, an analogical capture just like the rest of the video scenes.
We already knew of the rapport between both artists, who successfully join once more to deliver a song we love to listen to again and again. They met at the red carpet of the 2018 Latin Grammys, when the Uruguayan won three awards. There began a path that transformed mutual admiration into collaboration and bearing these exciting fruits. Precisely, their previous collaboration, «Nominao», (written during the last Latin Grammys in pandemic times) is now nominated, a poetic paradox, for these same awards in 2021. This year’s winners will be announced on November 18.
