Today, Spanish artist Abraham Mateo released his new single and music video of the pop-urban fusion “Repetíamos.”
“Repetíamos” is a bold track that highlights Abraham Mateo’s sophisticated singing voice, mixing it with modern beats and classy melodies, resulting in a beautiful song that you can groove to, while also getting in your feels.
“I keep thinking that you’re not here // And now it’s colder than Madrid // I know all your IG photos by heart // And I’m all alone here remembering,” Abraham Mateo sings subtly before the beat drops and he paints a picture of his time with that loved one he’s longing for.
The music video, directed by Willy Rodriguez and produced by Javier Bores from the production company Jupiter Films, was shot in Almería and Madrid, Spain, and features Abraham Mateo taking us down memory lane of the very electrifying relationship he’s reminiscing about in the song. We also see the more sensual side of the Spanish artist, with steamy scenes between him and his love interest, transmitting the electricity of that relationship through the screen.
Abraham Mateo also showcases his dance moves with very precise choreography and a super skilled dance troupe behind him, once again proving he’s one of the most complete artists of this generation.
“I’m very excited for everyone to listen to this song and watch the music video. I think most people will be able to identify with this track and hopefully it will hold a special place in their hearts,” Abraham Mateo said.
“Repetíamos” comes after “Sanga Zoo,” a collaboration between Abraham, DaVido, Obrinn, and Farruko, which garnered over 25 million views on YouTube and brought an early summer with fresh afrobeats and a tropical music video.
Abraham Mateo is not only a singer and songwriter, but he’s also an actor and producer. He began his career at the young age of 7 starring on a children’s TV show in Spain. Around 10, he signed his first record deal and released a debut self-titled album. His song “Señorita” off his second album, remained in Spain’s Top 50 single charts for almost a year, and the video was the most-trending video of 2013 in YouTube Spain.
So far, he’s released six studio albums that have received Platinum and Gold certifications in Spain. In 2017 his music transcended oceans thanks to “Loco Enamorado” with Farruko and Christian Daniel. It entered Billboard charts, Spotify’s Global Top 50, and received multiple Platinum certifications in the US, Spain, and Latin America.
He’s continued landing major collaborations with the likes of 50 Cent, Jennifer Lopez, Wisin y Yandel, Manuel Turizo, Becky G, Leslie Grace, CNCO, Alejandro Sanz, Pitbull, and many more, and has also made a name for himself as a producer to artists such as Ivy Queen, Gente de Zona, Belinda, Samo, Juan Magán, Sofía Reyes, Austin Mahone, Jennifer Lopez, 50 Cent, Drake Bell, Becky G, Lali, Manuel Turizo, Agustín Casanova, and Lérica.
In 2015, Billboard named him in their “21 Under 21’s Next Class” list of “music’s hottest young stars,” and also placed him on their Top 10 of young Latin acts list. Mateo is the youngest solo male artist to lead Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart.
